How to Choose Thesis Topics
By admin | March 18, 2008
A good choice of thesis topics is always a good idea. If you choose the topic of your interest, your work will be certainly progressing. If the topic is wrong, you may waste your time only, having not enough sources or your personal interest to investigate it.
In other words, good thesis topics are interesting to you, your Professor and the research community.
To make a good choice of your thesis topic, think of your personal preferences and priorities. What area is available enough for you to investigate? Make a brainstorm and ask yourself the following questions:
- What topic interests you most of all?
- Has it ever been investigated by researchers? Has it been discussed within your classes?
- Is there a real need in investigating this topic? Can it interest the research community?
- Is any information available to investigate this topic?
- Can you convince the Fellowships in this topic worthiness? Are you able to ask them for any financial help to investigate it in case you cannot find any information but desperately want to investigate it?
- Does this topic present a serious problem or a “toy problem”?
- Do you feel confident enough to consider this topic?
If, having answered all these questions, you still want to investigate the topic chosen, you are on the right way.
One more advice to you: do not get panic in case your research is getting wrong. Always gain self-control and never give up. Good luck!
