How to Choose Thesis Topics
By admin | May 20, 2008
I am sure you know that choosing thesis topics will be tricky. If you take it easy, it is better to change your point of view a bit. Thesis topic is something that will influence the whole work. You will not have a chance to change your topic somewhere in the middle of your work. You will just waste your precious time doing so.
Thus, at the very beginning of your project you have to think of the best thesis topics and choose the most appropriate one. These are the tips how you can do it.
First, your advisor may give you a list of the possible topics. If you get it, look it through carefully. They all may sound very attractive, but you have to think whether you will be able to disclose it.
If your advisor does not give you the list of the topics, you will have to make your own choice. On the one hand, this is a much better option. You can choose a topic according to your specific interests. On the other hand, it is more likely that you overestimate your abilities and skills, which will result in your poorly written paper.
You can also find a list of the completed dissertations, for instance in the library or at the ProQuest database. Look through the topics. Maybe there are some topics that you would like to make a further investigation on. Or these examples will simply give you some hints on your own topic.
If you want to choose a good topic, you have to do something for it. If you just sit and think, it is more likely that you choose a trash.
