Thesis Topics – Take it Seriously

By admin | July 12, 2008

It is difficult to say which part of a thesis writing process is the most difficult. Probably, every young scholar will give his/her own definition of the hardest stage of this process. Still, I think that you will not find a scholar, who would regard choosing the thesis topics easy.

The choice of the thesis topics is the very beginning of the whole matter. And this beginning is going to be challenging. There are so many factors that should influence the choice of the thesis topics. If you miss even one of them, you may have a lot of problems further.

For instance, you have used the advice of your supervisor and have chosen the topic, which somewhat does not coincide with your interests. What do you think will happen next? I can give you the possible description of your nearest future.

You start looking for the materials. Say, you do not have many problems with this part of your work. But as you begin to study all that stuff, you realize that there is nothing interesting about this topic. What is more, you cannot get fully the sense of all those articles and books.

What happens next is all these materials are driving you mad. You become nervous and a little bit paranoid. Besides, you feel that the topic of your project arouses a slight disgust. Yet, it is only the beginning. In a few months you will hate the topic, you will hate your advisor and the whole undertaking.

I guess you do not want this situation happen to you. Thus, take seriously the choice of the thesis topic.
